About

Andrea holds an EdD from the Boston University School of Education in Developmental Studies (Language, Literacy, and Cultural Studies) and a master's degree from the University of Szeged, Hungary in English Language and Literature with American Studies.
Andrea is research associate for Project S.P.E.A.K., a national professional development grant; she trains pre-service and in-service teachers to work with English language learners in Southwest Missouri school districts.
Andrea's research interests include the eventual outcome of late-onset (age 10+) second language acquisition, dropout prevention of late-onset second language learners, success in adult-onset second language learning, reading comprehension instruction for English language learners, and teacher training for English language learners in rural/migrant settings.
Andrea is the joyful recipient of the Christopher Brumfit 2008 PhD/EdD Thesis Award by Cambridge UP and the journal of Language Teaching.
